The Philosophy

We built ThatWomansBooks because we believe your collection data belongs to you. That belief extends to all your personal information. We collect only what we need to make the service work, and we don't sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

What We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive:

• Email address - So we can identify your account and contact you when necessary
• Name - To personalize your experience
• Profile picture (if available) - To display in your account

Collection Data

This is the good stuff - your books, your metadata, your tags. This data is yours. We store it securely so you can access it from any device, but we don't analyze it, sell it, or use it for anything other than providing you the service.

Technical Data

Standard server logs that help us keep things running - IP addresses, browser types, timestamps. We don't use this to track you; it's just for debugging and security.

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your data to advertisers
• We don't share your collection data with third parties
• We don't use tracking cookies
• We don't build advertising profiles
• We don't read your collection to serve you "relevant" ads (because we don't have ads)

How We Protect Your Data

We use industry-standard security practices:

• All data transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
• Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Limited employee access to user data

Your Data, Your Control

You can:

• Export your data anytime as CSV - no lock-in, no fees
• Delete your account and all associated data upon request
• Update your information through your account settings

Third-Party Services

We use a few services to make ThatWomansBooks work:

• ISBNdb - To fetch book metadata when you scan an ISBN
• Google OAuth - If you choose to sign in with Google
• Cloudflare - For hosting and content delivery
• Stripe - For secure payment processing

Children's Privacy

ThatWomansBooks is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove the account in question.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll let you know via email or a notice on the site. We'll always post the latest version here with the update date.
